| Fat transfers, or lipoaugmentation, are very common in Dr. Calvert's practice. Fat can be removed from one part of the body and transferred to another area where it adds volume. This is commonly performed for lip augmentation, filling of the nasolabial folds, and augmentation of facial tissues after a facelift. "Fat is my filler of choice. Lipoaugmentation procedures avoid the need for foreign substances and utilize the patient's own tissue for augmentation of soft tissue." Many people have been told that 'fat does not last' after a transfer. This has not been Dr. Calvert's experience. With that said, some areas are more difficult to augment than others. Success can generally be achieved with a sound surgical plan. Most areas require two or three lipoaugmenation procedures to get the desired result.
